American Rapper, Tyga Sues Young Money and Cash Money for $1million

American Rapper, Tyga Sues Young Money and Cash Money for $1million

American rapper Tyga is suing his former record labels, Cash Money and Young Money, claiming they have withheld a large amount of money from him.

Tyga says he signed a deal in 2009 to put out two albums for Young Money, TMZ reports. The albums, Careless World: Rise of the Last King and Hotel California, eventually released in 2012 and 2013, respectively, and made it to No. 4 and No. 7 on the Billboard 200.

The “Taste” rapper now says that Young Money shorted him “significant sums” and states that in 2016, Cash Money and Young Money agree to pay him all of the royalties he was owed, but he never saw a penny. Tyga claims he’s repeatedly tried to get his money but hasn’t had success. He is now reportedly seeking $1 million.

This isn’t the first time Young Money has been hit with a lawsuit for unpaid royalties. In November 2017, T-Pain sued the label for $500,000. According to the rapper and singer, he believes he was owed some money for producing Lil Wayne’s “Got Money” and his artist, Yung Fyre, produced the song “How to Hate.”

After the story broke, T-Pain hopped on social media to clarify that he wasn’t suing Lil Wayne specifically. “I’m obviously not suing my brother guys. Come on now,” the singer wrote. “The story wouldn’t be juicy enough if they said who I’m really suing because nobody knows that person so obviously they picked Wayne.”

David Banner has also sued the label in the past, asking for $160,000 after Young Money allegedly failed to pay him royalties for Tha Carter III songs “La La” and “Pussy Monster.”
