An “egg-cellent” award – Footballer receives 4 crates of eggs as reward after winning Man of the Match

Bryne FK, the Norwegian football club where Manchester City star Erling Haaland began his journey, has implemented a distinctive reward system for its Man of the Match accolades.

Instead of the standard medals or trophies, the club gives the Man of the Match crates of eggs.

This tradition, which reflects the club’s agricultural background, caught attention when goalkeeper Jan de Boer was presented with four trays of eggs following his impressive performance in the season opener against Bodo/Glimt, as reported by BBC.

Recently returning to Norway’s top division after more than twenty years, Bryne FK faced a challenging match against Bodo/Glimt, who are Europa League quarter-finalists.

Despite a 1-0 defeat, Jan de Boer’s remarkable goalkeeping kept the team in the game, making several vital saves, including a penalty stop in the second half. After the match, de Boer was named Man of the Match and received four crates of fresh eggs instead of a traditional trophy or cash prize.
