APC primaries: “I will win overwhelmingly if the process is credible”-Yahaya Bello Breaks Silence After Meeting With Buhari On Tuesday

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has finally broken silence on his name exclusion from the All Progressives Congress, APC ballot in today’s convention.

The presidential primary election of the ruling party is ongoing in Abuja to elect the party’s presidential flag bearer for the 2023 election.

This news platform had reported earlier that Governor Bello was in a closed-door meeting with the President on Tuesday morning.

Governor Bello who was said to have disagreed with his Northern counterparts over the zoning of the presidential ticket to the South said the party has called for some troubles for excluding his name from the party’s ballot in today’s convention.

Recall that the North Central State Governor is one of the 23 aspirants cleared to contest for the party‘s presidential ticket in the 2023 election weeks ago.

Governor Bello frowned at the latest development in the APC, saying there is a conspiracy against him.

He accused the APC northern governors and some elite of gang-up. The Presidential aspirant described himself as a leading aspirant that would win overwhelmingly if the process is transparent and credible.

Bello insisted that the only thing that could make him not contest the presidential primary is only if President Muhammadu Buhari tells him to step down.

Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting, Bello said that the APC will retain power at the centre if only it plays by the rules.

“Getting into the arena today, I will win overwhelmingly if the process is credible,” Governor Bello said.

He stressed that there was no need for him to be excluded in the primary, claiming that he represents the youths and the downtrodden. He lamented that the APC governors of northern extraction did not consult him earlier when they took the resolution that power should shift to the south and that the resolution was not bidding on him.

He reiterated his opposition to the rotational presidency, saying that it doesn’t give room for the emergence of a competent person to pilot the affairs of the country.

Governor Bello though refused to comment on his meeting with the President earlier.
