Apostle Femi Lazarus of Light Nation Church addressed his congregation on Sunday, March 23, emphasizing the biblical framework for a music ministry.
Previously, the cleric gained attention after a viral video surfaced in which he criticized gospel singers for charging fees to perform at churches and Christian events. His remarks even prompted a response from RnB star Timi Dakolo, fueling a broader debate on the issue.
Amid ongoing discussions about whether Nigerian gospel artists should charge for ministering in churches, Apostle Lazarus clarified the role of a music minister. He described them as individuals who use music as a primary tool to uplift the local church and, by extension, the body of Christ.
Reaffirming his stance against the commercialization of gospel music, he also directed a message to fellow clergy members, cautioning them against endorsing singers who demand payment before accepting invitations to minister in churches.
“If you’re a pastor and you call a music minister who charges you and you pay, God will judge you,” Apostle Femi Lazarus said in a video.
