Arise TV Host Gives Update on Why Nigeria Ex-Deputy Senate President, Ekweremadu and Wife Were Arrested in UK over human Organ Harvest

Arise TV host, Oseni Rufai has given a clue of what transpired in UK as Nigerians reacts to the sh0cking news of the arrest of former Nigerian deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu.

According to Oseni, Ekweremadus’ daughter needed a kidney, so they brought in a boy they had promised better life with the intention of harvesting his kidney.

“Ekweremadu’s daughter needed a kidney, so he brought in a 15 year old homeless boy with illegally obtained passport stating that the boy was 21. The boy was promised a better life. The former deputy senate President has been denied bail,” he wrote on Twitter.

It was reported earlier reported that the couple were arrested in United Kingdom over alleged human organ Harvesting.

According to Met Police Press Release, the Ekweremadus have been charged with conspiring to arrange the travel of a child into the UK in order to harvest organs.

“The charges follow an investigation by the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime team.

[A] Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55 (10.9.66) of Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange/facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.

[B] Ike Ekweremadu, 60 (12.05.62) of Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange/facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.

They have both been remanded in custody and will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court later today.

The investigation was launched after detectives were alerted to potential offences under modern slavery legislation in May 2022.

A child has been safeguarded and we are working closely with partners on continued support.

As criminal proceedings are now under way we will not be providing further details.”
