President Bola Tinubu’s involvement in the ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State has prompted a response from the former vice president Atiku Abubakar’s camp.
According to Naija News, during a meeting at the State House in Abuja with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, former governor Peter Odili, and a few other stakeholders, the president was able to resolve the crisis.
Eight decisions were made during the three-hour meeting in the State House in Abuja to address the political unrest in the South-South state.
The resolution was signed by Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Oma Ordu, Wike, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, Martin Amaewhule, the factional Speaker of the Rivers State Assembly, Aaron Chukwuemeka, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, and Tony Okocha, the Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A spokesman for the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organization, Daniel Bwala, claimed in a post on Monday via his verified X handle that the president’s orders are unlawful, unconstitutional, and void.
Bwala urged the people of Rivers State to reject the orders from the president.
He wrote: “The people of Rivers State should disown the so-called directive which is in itself illegal, unconstitutional and null and void.”
