Yinka Ayefele, a well-known Nigerian gospel singer, has taken a strong stand amid the anger from many online users. He is calling for an end to the negative labeling of a former ritualist and hired killer he recently interviewed on his radio show.
This man, now seen as reformed, revealed that he has killed 78 people, mostly women, to provide sacrifices for his deity in hopes of regaining his power and wealth.
His shocking admissions have sparked a firestorm online, leading to outrage directed not only at him but also at Ayefele, who is facing serious criticism.
In a bold move against the criticism, Ayefele joined an audio call with media figure Yinka TNT on her online platform to tackle the ongoing controversy head-on.
He strongly denied accusations from traditional worshippers who claimed he disrespected their practices during the interview.
Ayefele explained that he chose to hide the ritualist’s identity not to protect him, but because of his own moral principles.
Yinka TNT echoed this thought, stressing that ethical journalism can confront hard truths.
Nevertheless, Ayefele’s core message was a sincere appeal for empathy in light of public anger. He urged those pushing for the arrest of the reformed criminal to rethink their stance, arguing that stigmatizing him could push him back into crime, a situation he has already moved away from after serving his time.
