Singer Ayra Starr, whose real name is Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, has removed a video of herself dancing to Naira Marley’s latest track ‘Pxy Drip (I’m Back)’ after receiving strong backlash from Nigerians.
The backlash is related to the issues surrounding Naira Marley, who has been criticized in the music scene following the death of his former signee, Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba.
Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, at the young age of 27. His passing triggered anger when old footage showed him being bullied by Sam Larry, associated with Naira Marley.
Although Naira Marley was accused of being involved in Mohbad’s death, he was later exonerated after spending time in police detention.
Ayra Starr, 22, shared a video on TikTok and Snapchat on Thursday, February 6, where she danced and moved her waist to Naira Marley’s new song.
The video went viral fast, but many Nigerians criticized it for being insensitive.
Realizing the public’s anger, the Mavin Records star took down the video from her Snapchat and TikTok.
However, the clip had already gone viral, and she is still dealing with negative reactions.
