Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has opened up about her creative process, revealing that she holds herself to an exceptionally high standard when making music. Despite her growing success, the Mavin Records artist admitted that she is often dissatisfied with her songs after recording them, always feeling they could be improved further.
In a recent interview, the Rush singer shared how she continuously strives for perfection in her music. “I usually don’t like my songs after recording. It’s so bad. I don’t even know why. I just feel like it can get better and better, and I just keep trying to go, go, go until it’s perfect,” she explained. This relentless drive for improvement highlights her dedication to delivering high-quality music to her fans.
Ayra Starr’s perfectionist tendencies push her to refine her sound constantly. While this can be a challenge, it also contributes to her rapid rise in the Afrobeats industry. Since her breakthrough with Away in 2020, she has consistently released hit songs that resonate with a global audience. Her ability to blend Afro-pop, R&B, and soulful melodies has earned her a spot among the leading voices in contemporary African music.
However, there are rare moments when she is entirely satisfied with a song. One such exception is her hit single Woman Commando, featuring Anita and Coco Jones. Unlike her usual self-criticism, Ayra Starr admitted that she was fully confident in the track’s quality.
“Woman Commando was that song where I thought, okay, I went crazy on this one. This is dope,” she said, expressing pride in the project.
Her dedication to artistic excellence continues to set her apart, making her a force to be reckoned with in the music industry
