Nigerian singer Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has opened up about how her musical journey began, revealing that she started as a child chorister.
In a recent interview with Amazing Jazzy, the “Rush” crooner shared that she began singing at the young age of 10 and was a lead singer in her local church’s children’s choir. She credited this early experience for playing a vital role in shaping her voice and overall artistry.
“I loved being in the choir. I was like the loudest child—it was the kids’ choir actually, and everybody was little,” Ayra Starr recalled. “It was the first time I discovered that I could sing. It really helped me shape my voice and music.”
From her humble beginnings in the church choir to becoming one of Nigeria’s biggest breakout stars, Ayra Starr’s journey is a testament to how early musical influences can pave the way for greatness.
