NAF Jet: ‘We Used AK-47 to Bring Down This Plane’ – Bandit Group Claims Responsibility

According to the Sokoto State Police Command, bandits stormed Duhuwa town in the state’s Wurno Local Government Area, leaving at least five persons dead and four injured.

Speaking over the phone with our correspondent on Saturday, ASP Ahmad Rufa’i, the command’s spokesman, verified the occurrence and stated that numerous other people were also taken hostage during the ordeal.

Dalhatu Duhuwa, a villager, disagreed with the police over the number of casualties, putting it at six instead of the five that the police had stated in an interview with our correspondent.

While confirming the number of casualties, Duhuwa stated that the incident started at approximately 10.30 p.m. on Thursday and continued until approximately 12.10 a.m. on Friday when the bandits left the village.

The resident said, “The incident started around 10.30pm and lasted till around 12.10 am when the bandits left after killing about six persons, all men, injured four and abducting some women.

“Though police and other security operatives mobilised and came at about 12:25 am, they got the information through some of us who are social media influencers and through our post.

“They tried to pursue the bandits into the bush but unfortunately could not see them as they have gone far.”

Meanwhile, Duhuwa who is a social media influencer, has appealed to the security agents currently in the village to extend their stay and be vigilant.

He said there is information going on that the bandits are hiding in the bush close to the village and may still launch an attack again
