Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, professionally known as Wizkid, reveals why Banky W couldn’t do without him at EME in his newly released course, Music Business 101.
Recall Wizkid enters the Nigerian music industry while signed to the EME record label, which is controlled by prominent Nigerian musician Banky W and music producer Tunde Demuren.
According to Wizkid, Banky W, the founder of the now-defunct EME, was unable to function without him because he was too talented, and so found it difficult to ignore him.
Further, Wizkid stated that when you are successful as an artiste, everyone would want to work with you because everyone supports success.
Advising the upcoming artistes, Wizkid said that no record label can push them as much as they want as an artiste adding that they have to put in the work first.
In his words; “No record label can push you as much as you want. Like you have to actually put in the work, everyone supports everything that is successful, everyone wants to affiliate with anything that’s successful.
“So if you’re too good, they will never neglect you or they won’t want to work on your project
they will want to invest this is business.so if you’re doing a label proud, they will invest
in it. if you’re not you don’t expect them to just be throwing money out there.”
