Bells University of Technology has expelled a first-year student for physically attacking a female student after she shared a video of him with another girl.

Reports indicate that the video eventually reached his primary girlfriend, sparking issues in his relationship and leading him to retaliate.

The university confirmed the student’s expulsion through an official statement shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The announcement read:

“The student who assaulted a female colleague has been EXPELLED. He has also issued an apology, and his parents have agreed to cover the victim’s school fees.”

Additionally, the school management addressed the incident in a formal communication to students.

“Dear Bellstech Students,

This is to formally inform you that the school management has taken appropriate disciplinary action regarding the assault case involving a 100-level student on March 13. The male student in question has been expelled, while the female student remains enrolled.

As a student body, we urge everyone to refrain from violence and any behavior that violates school regulations or negatively impacts fellow students. Bells University upholds a strict zero-tolerance policy against bullying and assault. Justice has been served, and necessary disciplinary measures have been enforced.

Furthermore, we encourage students to highlight the university’s achievements and positive developments, not just in times of controversy. We appreciate your patience, concern, and engagement on this matter. Let’s continue working together to maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment for all.”

The incident, which occurred on March 10, 2025, sparked outrage on social media.

Eyewitnesses report that the female student, identified as Girl X, was attacked by the male student, Tony, at the university’s football field. Witnesses stated that Tony assaulted her severely, leaving her with serious injuries and excessive bleeding.

A viral post detailing the attack claimed:

“Tony assaulted the girl after realizing she had shared a video of him with his side girlfriend, which later reached his main girlfriend—one month after it was recorded. Upon encountering her at the football field, he beat her up, recorded a video of her in distress, and captioned it, ‘Other girls will learn from this,’ while threatening her to apologize and warning he would hit her again.”

The attack prompted widespread condemnation, with many online users calling for justice.

Following the public outcry, the university took swift disciplinary action, resulting in Tony’s expulsion.

The decision has since sparked mixed reactions, with social media users expressing diverse opinions on both the punishment and the circumstances leading up to the assault.

@NwanevuBrianda1: “If I talk now some guys will start calling me names..it’s time to put these guys in prison with hard labour. Anyone who indulges in domestic violence should be treated like a thief. Imagine the kind of inhumane treatment she received, this is horrendous.”

@N0HATESPEECH: “If your boyfriend is saying ‘she should have minded her business’ this is an advice, please you are dating a live wire, e fit shock you any one of these days.”

@swagnito: “She would not have sent any video to anybody.. Relationship issues are not for you to settle or dissolve. Sad incident tho but everyone would learn their lesson from this. The boy should be expelled and charged to court for attempted murder or battering.”
