Nigerian entrepreneur and chairman of the Cubana Group, Dr. Obinna Iyiegbu, widely recognized as Obi Cubana, has revealed his intention to establish a tricycle assembly plant in Ebonyi State.
During a press conference on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, following a discussion with Governor Francis Nwifuru in Abakaliki, Obi Cubana elaborated on the reasons behind his decision to invest in the region. He praised the governor for cultivating a peaceful atmosphere, enhancing security measures, and upgrading infrastructure, all of which have rendered Ebonyi an appealing location for business ventures.
“There is a peaceful environment, enhanced security, and improved infrastructure under the Nwifuru-led administration. I commend the governor for creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, making Ebonyi a preferred investment destination,” he said.
The business leader underscored that the upcoming project will concentrate on the assembly and distribution of tricycles.
He also expressed the significance of investing in his native region rather than exclusively in other states.
“As renowned businessmen, we cannot continue investing in other states while neglecting Ebonyi. One of our major partners is from Ebonyi, and we are committed to supporting the state government’s job creation efforts,” he added.
Obi Cubana further indicated that this investment will play a vital role in promoting industrialization and agro-business initiatives within the state.
He assured that preparations are already in progress, with substantial advancements expected in the upcoming months to initiate operations.
This initiative is anticipated to enhance employment prospects and stimulate economic growth in Ebonyi, further solidifying the state’s status as an emerging center for business and industrial development.
