Nollywood luminary Toyin Afolayan, widely recognized as Lola Idije, has finally entered the discussion, addressing the torrent of speculation surrounding her relationship with her goddaughter and fellow actress, Biodun Okeowo, known as Omoborty.
The controversy originated from Omoborty’s extravagant wedding a few months prior, during which she and her partner captivated social media with their affection, sharing stunning photographs that generated considerable excitement.
However, what should have been a joyous occasion quickly devolved into a hotbed of rumors, with claims surfacing that Omoborty’s husband had previously been romantically linked to Lola Idije’s daughter, suggesting that Okeowo had taken him from her.
Despite Omoborty’s earlier denial of these allegations during an Instagram Live session, the rumors persisted. It was inevitable that Lola Idije would eventually feel compelled to address the situation herself.
On Monday, October 14, Lola Idije took to Instagram, decisively dispelling any remaining doubts and putting the rumors to rest.
In her post, the seasoned actress detailed the sole interaction she had with Omoborty’s husband, which occurred during a phone call in which Omoborty had introduced him.
She emphasized that she had no prior acquaintance with the man, nor did any of her daughters. With steadfast determination, she asserted that Omoborty had never taken any man from her daughter, recounting her presence at Omoborty’s wedding, where she supported her goddaughter as she wed the individual in question.
She wrote;
“Good evening Everyone, I want to address the story going around since yesterday and to clear the air.
“The first time I ever spoke to Omoborty’s husband was when she introduced him to me on a phone call, I did not know him before that, None of my daughters know him personally.,
“Biodun aka Omoborty did not snatch my daughters boyfriend, l attended the wedding, there is no way she would do that and I still would attend the wedding.
“Thank you and I hope this clarifies everything”
