Boat With 12 Passengers And Goods Worth Millions Goes Missing In Port Harcourt

About 12 passengers travelling from Port Harcourt to Bakana in Degema local government area of Rivers State were today, Monday, April 6, hijacked by Sea Pirates but later rescued.

The passenger boat left Port Harcourt to Bakana about 11 am but was attacked by Sea Pirates at a place called Cawthorne Channel.

The Port Harcourt-Bakana-Beach Mistress, Madam Asikiye Bobmanuel who confirmed the incident, said the Seafarers need the aid of government for their protection.

An Eyewitness said goods and the boat worth millions of Naira were carted away by the gunmen. The distraught passengers were left stranded in high seas until rescuers came to their aid.

The called on governments at various levels to come to their aids.

The Chairman of Degema local government area, Tony Philemon, was yet to react at the time of filing this report.
