Bobi Wine Drags President, Museveni’s Re-Election to Court.
The main opposition candidate and flag bearer of the National Unity Platform (NUP) in the recently, concluded Ugandan election, Bobi Wine has filed a challenge at the Supreme Court against President Yoweri Museveni.
Bobi Wine filed a legal challenge in the country’s Supreme Court, seeking cancellation of the results of last month’s presidential election that handed incumbent Yoweri Museveni the victory.
“We want the poll cancelled and repeated,” said George Musisi, lawyer for Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP), on Monday.
“There was outright ballot-stuffing, there was intimidation of NUP agents and supporters, some were arrested on the eve of the election, there was pre-ticking of ballots.”
They want the election nullified and Museveni stopped from contesting in future elections.
“We want nullification of the election. We do not want (Museveni) participating in any future election,” Medard said at the Kampala courthouse where he filed the petition for the runner-up.
