Bobrisky denies claims of bribing EFCC officers with N15m

  • Bobrisky, a popular crossdresser, has denied a bribery claim by social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.
  • Bobrisky claimed that unnamed Economic and Financial Crimes Commission operatives collected N15 million from him to drop money laundering charges in a viral audio.
  • Bobrisky was charged with six charges of naira abuse and money laundering, totaling N127,780,877.98.
  • The payment was made to his company’s account number 2830002929, located in Eco Bank Plc, between September 2021 and April 2024.

Idris Okuneye, widely recognized as Bobrisky, a prominent crossdresser, has refuted allegations of bribery made against him by social media influencer Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan.

In a widely circulated audio clip released by VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky claimed that certain unidentified operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) demanded N15 million from him in exchange for dropping money laundering charges.

Bobrisky had previously faced six charges related to currency abuse and money laundering, amounting to N127,780,877.98.

The funds in question were reportedly deposited into his company’s account, number 2830002929, held at Eco Bank Plc, between September 2021 and April 2024.

However, these charges were dismissed following a request from the EFCC’s counsel, Suleiman Suleiman, who informed the court that an agreement had been reached with Bobrisky.

In response to the viral audio, Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, announced on Tuesday that the Commission’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, had mandated an immediate investigation into the allegations.

On Wednesday morning, September 25, Bobrisky took to Instagram to assert that he had not bribed any EFCC official to have the money laundering charges against him dropped, emphasizing that he had already served his prison sentence.

The controversial figure further labeled the viral audio recording as fraudulent, asserting that the assertion regarding his imprisonment was untrue and should be disregarded.

Bobrisky wrote:

“My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating on the internet that I paid EFCC 15 million naira, and that I was never in prison… I didn’t pay any EFCC money, is a very big lie. I served my term in full, and I came out. Discard any false information.”
