The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has dropped the charges its filed at the Supreme Court, challenging during the apex court sessions on Monday, the party declared its withdrawal. Chukwuma Majukwu Umeh, the appellant’s attorney, requested its withdrawal.
The Supreme Court rejected the appeal for lack of merit after the withdrawal.
Members of the Supreme Court panel dismissed the appeal, citing it as a frivolous petition because the court had already addressed the question of whether Shettima was legitimately nominated in a previous case involving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) v. INEC and others.
If Umeh believed his client would gain anything from the case’s conclusion, other than adding to the court’s already excessive workload, Justice Okoro asked him directly.
According to Gistlover, Umeh attempted to set his client’s case apart from PDP v. INEC and other cases, but he eventually abandoned the case after Justice Okoro maintained that the appeal had no practical significance.
