On Sunday evening, bandits ambushed the Zone 5 section of the Kubwa Extension 2 Relocation Estate on Arab Road in the Federal Capital Territory, capturing a mother along with her three children, one of whom is six months old.
According to an report, the gunmen opened fire indiscriminately between 8 and 9 p.m. on Sunday, December 10, sparking chaos throughout the neighborhood.
Speaking with our correspondent about the development, a resident who wished to remain anonymous said that every December, kidnapping has turned into a regular occurrence in the neighborhood.
He said, “This kidnapping has become a regular occurrence here every December. If you remember very well, last December, The PUNCH reported a similar incident of abduction in the area, now this is another one, and it is worrisome.”
Another resident noted, “This kidnapping is due to a lack of adequate security in the area. Last night they kidnapped a whole family – a mother and her three children, including a six months old baby here at Zone 5, Kubwa Extension 2 Relocation estate.”
The FCT Police Command had not yet issued an official statement on the development as of the time of writing.
In response to our correspondent’s reply, SP Josephine Adeh, the public relations officer for the FCT Police, stated that she will look into the issue and get back to her.
“I will find out and get back to you as soon as possible please,” Adeh said.
Meanwhile, the FCT CP, Haruna Garba, did not respond to phone calls by our correspondent on Monday.
