BREAKING: INEC, Tinubu disagree as Atiku urges Supreme Court to admit fresh proof

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, has pleaded with the Supreme Court to accept new evidence against President Bola Tinubu.

His lead attorney, Chris Uche, SAN, called the case serious and constitutional when he spoke in court on Monday.

He implored the court to accept the application and comply with their demands.

Presenting his argument, he said, “The issue involving Mr Tinubu’s certificate is a weighty, grave, and constitutional one, which the Supreme Court should admit. I urge the court to admit the fresh evidence of President Tinubu’s academic records from CSU presented by Atiku.

The Supreme Court needs to review Mr. Tinubu’s documents and render a conclusion free from procedural errors.

Abubakar Mahmoud, an attorney for INEC, requested the Supreme Court to reject Atiku’s request to submit Tinubu’s academic records.

Lead attorney for Tinubu, Wole Olanipekun, SAN, contended that INEC ought to have participated in the US deposition procedures, pointing out that CSU depositions are on hold until the deponent appears in court and provides testimony.

He informed the court that Atiku was not permitted to ask the Supreme Court for new evidence.
