BREAKING: NYSC Summons Corps Member Over Viral TikTok Video Criticizing Tinubu

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has summoned Ushie Rita Uguamaye, a corps member serving in Lagos State, following her viral TikTok post criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Why Was She Summoned?

Gistlover reports that a message from the NYSC Local Government Inspector (LGI) instructed Rita, identified by code number LA/24B/832, to report to the Eti Osa 3 local government office by 10 a.m. on Monday without fail.

This comes after Rita posted an emotional TikTok video under the handle @talktoraye, expressing frustration over Nigeria’s rising cost of living. Her statements quickly gained traction, sparking backlash from the NYSC board.

What Did She Say?

In her video, Rita tearfully criticized Tinubu, calling him a “terrible president” and accusing the government of failing to address the country’s economic crisis.

She lamented how prices of goods keep skyrocketing, stating:

“I just came from a supermarket, and everything has gone up again. Every single week, prices increase. What is the government doing about this?”

She specifically highlighted:

✔️ A crate of eggs now costing N6,500, compared to N800 in previous years.

✔️ Electricity bills doubling and basic expenses becoming unbearable.

✔️ Uber fares reaching N25,000, making transportation unaffordable.

✔️ Complaints about Lagos’ poor sanitation, stating that the city “stinks.”

She also questioned the relevance of NYSC, stating that the transportation costs corps members incur far exceed their government allowance.

NYSC’s Reaction & Rita’s Response

Less than 24 hours after posting the video, Rita shared another TikTok clip showing her receiving a call from NYSC officials, urging her to delete the video and stop criticizing the government.

She claimed multiple NYSC authorities had reached out, including the secretariat and her LGI.

 Her words:

“Yesterday, I made a video talking about the Nigerian government and how terrible President Tinubu is. Thirty minutes ago, I received a call from the NYSC board.”

What’s Next?

The NYSC has not officially stated what actions will be taken against Rita. However, concerns have been raised over whether her freedom of speech is being suppressed.

Meanwhile, the video has sparked nationwide debates, with many Nigerians agreeing with her sentiments about the economic hardships under the current administration.
