The State Criminal Investigation Department has been ordered to take over from the Mabushi Police Division immediately in the ongoing investigation into the alleged poisoning of the Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John, who is being treated at the Federal Medical Center. Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Haruna Garba, issued the directive.

In an exclusive phone interview with our correspondent on Saturday, SP Josephine Adeh, the public relations officer for the FCT Police Command, disclosed the development.

The Mabushi Police Division, which was looking into the situation, was told to transfer it right away to the SCID, according to SP Adeh.

GISTLOVER reports that Ade-John, 60, who was appointed as tourism minister by President Bola Tinubu in August, has been hospitalized in Abuja after being said to have suffered acute poisoning from an unknown origin. Her family is concerned that time is running out on their attempts to save her life.

According to family sources familiar with her situation, it was learned that the minister was taken by ambulance to the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi not long after she first displayed symptoms of illness. As of Saturday morning, our correspondent learned that she had been there for five days.

The FMC’s representatives did not return our correspondent’s calls or texts, so we were unable to contact them.
