BREAKING: President Tinubu suspends Godwin Emefiele as Governor of CBN

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended  Mr Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, from office with immediate effect.

Willie Bassey, Director, Information Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, said in a brief statement on Friday night that it is a result of the ongoing inquiries of his office and the planned changes in the financial sector of the economy.

According to Gistlover, Emefiele has been asked to immediately hand over the responsibilities of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who would operate as the Central Bank Governor until the inquiry and reforms are completed.
