On Monday, the Supreme Court denied the appeal by the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate in the Benue governorship election, Titus Uba.
Hyacinth Alia’s election as the governor of Benue state has been confirmed by the gubernatorial election petition tribunal and the Abuja court of appeals.
Uba petitioned the supreme court for remedy because he was unhappy with the rulings.
According to The PUNCH, the state’s gubernatorial election was proclaimed won by Alia of the All Progressive Congress in March 2023.
The Independent National Electoral Commission also issued a certificate of return to Alia, a Catholic priest.
The APC candidate received 473,933 votes, according to INEC Returning Officer Prof. Faruk Kuta, defeating his nearest opponent, Peoples Democratic Party candidate Titus Uba, who received 223,914 votes.
