Controversial Brymo, a Nigerian singer, has said that Grammy-winning artiste Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, is unoriginal, cheap, and fake.
He made this assertion in an interview with TVC News, where he also accused the self-proclaimed African Giant of theft.
According to Brymo, every song published by Burna Boy is a sample of another artist’s music, and the majority of his slogans are stolen.
The ‘Ara’ singer, who was perplexed as to how the ‘Last Last’ hitmaker got a Grammy for his genre of music, joked that Burna Boy sees himself as the Jesus of Afrobeat.
He also stated that Afrobeats is a music style rather than a genre, and that Afrobeat, as pioneered by late Fela Kuti, is a genre.
Brymo claimed that Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido are thieves who took Fela’s music genre and redesigned it by adding S to Afrobeat without realizing how hard he worked to create it.
The 37-year-old singer claims that new generation acts damage genres by renaming what older generations have created rather than having continuity.
