Nigerian artist Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, attended the Yellow Coins Gala on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Paris La Défense Arena in France.

This charity and music event featured stars like John Legend, Aya Nakamura, J Balvin, Katy Perry, J-Hope, and Gautier Capuçon. Now in its third year, the gala aims to raise funds for the Hospital Foundation and is being held at the Paris La Défense Arena for the first time.

In a video posted by @afrobeatshq on Instagram, Burna Boy was seen standing proudly with other artists on stage while fans cheered them on. He also shared some highlights from the event on his Instagram stories, including a moment when he hugged John Legend.

Burna Boy’s impact worldwide is significant, having performed at many international events. His fan base has expanded over time, bringing pride to his fellow countrymen.

Referred to as the African giant, a title from his 2019 fourth studio album, the singer is a Grammy award holder.

Burna Boy has made Nigerians proud internationally, but he has also been part of some controversies. He has been criticized for his treatment of fans who try to distract him during his performances.

Recall that on December 31, 2024, the Ye hitmaker performed at the Greater Lagos concert. A fan jumped on stage, which distracted him and made him stop singing after his DJ played his popular song Last Last.

Burna Boy has been involved in controversies with celebrity barman Pascal Okechukwu, known as Cubana Chiefpriest, and singer Darlington Okoye, also called Speed Darlington or Akpi.

Akpi accused Burna Boy of getting his Grammy award with the help of American rapper Sean Combs, also known as P. Diddy. He claimed that Diddy used baby oils on him. This led to Burna Boy having Akpi arrested. After a few weeks in jail, Akpi was finally released.
