Omah Lay, a popular Afropop musician, discusses how past generations of artists paved the road for him in Nigeria’s music business.
In a recent interview, the ‘Soso’ singer named the artists he feels were significant in his rise to prominence in the music industry.
He mentioned Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, and Olamide as artists who helped him become where he is now.
Omah Lay stated that he is unsure of what he is doing differently that distinguishes him from his contemporaries and everyone else, but he is confident that he is being himself when creating his songs.
He said …
“I feel like I wouldn’t have been here if it weren’t for the previous generation – Burna, Wiz, Davido and Olamide – they are the reasons why I am here right now and I am doing it like this. Yeah, I can’t say for sure what exactly it is that I am doing differently; I’m just doing me and it is what it is.”
