“Can you stop trolling Mercy Aigbe, how can she allow her house to burn to promote a movie” – Kemi Afolabi to critics

  • Nigerian actress Kemi Afolabi has condemned the recent online attacks on Mercy Aigbe following a devastating fire incident at her Lagos home.
    • Aigbe shared a video showcasing the aftermath of a fire that destroyed several properties worth millions of naira.
    • Social media users accused Aigbe of promoting her upcoming movie ‘Thinline’, while others criticized her for referencing her marriage.

Kemi Afolabi, the Nigerian actress, has condemned the online harassment directed at Mercy Aigbe following a catastrophic fire incident at Aigbe’s residence in Lagos.

On Wednesday evening, Aigbe posted a video depicting the destruction caused by the fire, which resulted in significant property loss amounting to millions of naira.

Despite this, certain social media users alleged that the incident was a calculated move by Aigbe to generate publicity for her forthcoming film, ‘Thinline’. Additionally, some individuals resorted to derogatory remarks concerning Aigbe’s marital status.

In response to these comments, Afolabi, visibly distressed, implored the public to cease the trolling of Aigbe in an Instagram video.

The 46-year-old actress expressed her disbelief that anyone would assume her colleague would exploit such a tragic event for promotional purposes. Afolabi further stressed the importance of providing Aigbe with support rather than subjecting her to online vitriol.

“I am begging on behalf of Mercy… she did not send me and I know she is always a strong woman. I just feel so bad that she has to go through this. Please guys any support you can give her at this time. Can you stop trolling her please?” she said.

“I know we are are human and nobody is perfect. We already discussed about the house. We have people who have told her they would support her. It is a big deal. If you want to think about everything that has burnt down including her properties, the house itself, the filming equipment.

“I cannot believe people are still trolling her. This is unfair. All she needs is you support. Forget whatever you guys might have against her. How can someone allow her house to burn to promote a movie.”
