Candy Bleakz Condemns Lack Of Support For New Female Artists In Nigeria

Singer Candy Bleakz has spoken out against the lack of support for young female artists in Nigeria from their more successful female counterparts.

On a recent episode of ‘The Honest Bunch’ podcast, hosted by actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel (also known as Nedu), Bleakz made a forceful statement: “There’s no female artiste in Nigeria right now that you can say has helped bring out another female artiste.”

This assertion implies that established female artists in Nigeria aren’t doing enough to support beginners in the industry.

Bleakz, known for her song ‘Wole’, She also discussed her personal style.She defined herself as a tomboy and stated that it was not an act for her music career. “I’m a tomboy naturally. I’m not doing it for music promotion,” she explained.

She went on to say that her mother had attempted to change this about her but was unsuccessful.

In other news, Afrobeat artist, Young John recently spoke with Saige Jones about his history and personal life.

The producer-turned-singer claimed that he grew up in a profoundly devout family where both parents were pastors.

Young John explained, “I grew up in a religious home. Both my mum and dad were pastors. My mum had a school. She was a psychologist.” He added that his musical journey began in the church, where he played drums and keyboard.

The artist reflects on how his childhood experiences affected his understanding of love.. “When I was really young, I believed in love so much because of what I used to see between my parents,” he said. However, he noted that his perspective changed as he grew older and experienced the wider world.

Young John also discussed a personal tragedy, revealing that he lost his mother to cancer. “My mum is late now. We lost her to cancer. It happened a while ago. I’m over it now,” he stated, indicating that he has come to terms with the loss.
