American actor Michael K Williams, best known for starring in HBO drama series, “The Wire,” has reportedly been found dead in his New York apartment.
Reportedly, the actor died from a suspected drug overdose. Though this has not been officially confirmed.
New York Police Department spokesman said police went to Williams’ Brooklyn penthouse after receiving an emergency call on Monday afternoon, September 6th.
However,two officials have said he had what appeared to be drug paraphernalia in the apartment as well. The city medical examiner’s office is said to be currently looking into his death and no official cause has been released yet.
Williams had openly discussed his struggles with drugs over the years. He was 54 years.
In The Wire, he played Omar Little, a streetwise robber of drug gangs. He was also known for playing Albert “Chalky” White in the Boardwalk Empire TV series.
