A report from the Sunday Times Business section has claimed that Blues owner Roman Abramovich would be seeking more than £2billion for the west London club, and had hired the same US specialist who helped broker the sale of 13 per cent of Manchester City to Chinese investors in 2015.

That deal valued City at £1.9billio ans a whole, with Chelsea’s Russian owner wanting to top that.

However, Mirror Sport have learned from a club source that nothing has changed at Stamford Bridge, and that the club is not up for sale at the present time.

The report claims that Abramovich is holding out for a fee that would value Chelsea as the most expensive club in the world, a few days after it was revealed that Liverpool turned down a £2billion offer from Abu Dhabi earlier this year.

Chelsea were reportedly the subject of interest from Sir Jim Ratcliffe – the richest man in Britain – earlier this year, amid claims that Abramovich was ready to sell after 15 years in charge of the club.

Abramovich has been beset with problems recently having been refused a new visa to enter the UK back in May.

That led to plans for the club’s new 60,000 seater stadium to be put on hold, while the club also faced managerial uncertainty as they sacked Antonio Conte and replaced him with Maurizio Sarri.

The new boss has been given money for transfers though, with Sarri snapping up midfielder Jorginho and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga – the most expensive stopper in the world at £71m – before the start of this season.
