Chidimma Adetshina, Nigeria’s beauty queen and second runner-up at Miss Universe 2024, has shared her emotional journey to the global stage, shedding light on the mental health challenges she faced along the way.
In addition to her stellar performance at the pageant, Chidimma earned the title of Miss Africa and Oceania, solidifying her status as a trailblazer in international beauty pageants. Speaking in an exclusive interview with the BBC, she reflected on her rise in the pageant world, admitting she never envisioned making it to the top two.
“I had already made peace with being in the top 30. That alone felt like a victory to me,” Chidimma confessed. Her humility and perseverance resonated with many, as she revealed the immense pressure and emotional toll the competition took on her.
The beauty queen also opened up about her ongoing mental health struggles, acknowledging that the intense experience left her emotionally drained. “Not many people understand what I went through,” she admitted, adding that she is exploring therapy to process the highs and lows of her journey.
