Just a few days after stepping back from the Miss South Africa beauty pageant because of backlash over her ethnicity, Chidimma Adetshina has agreed to join the Miss Universe Nigeria contest.

Guy Murray-Bruce, the president of the Silverbird Group and producer of the event, shared the news on social media.

Adetshina will be the 25th contestant and will represent Taraba State in northeastern Nigeria.

Chidimma, who represents Taraba State, expressed her happiness in a heartfelt acceptance video. She congratulated the Silverbird Group, the event’s organizers, and shared her hope for the future.

A recent update from the organization announced that voting lines are now open for fans and viewers to choose their favorite delegate.
