Nigerian stand-up comedian Bovi Ugboma has expressed his opposition to the practice of physically disciplining children as a means of correction.

In a recent episode of ‘The Honest Bunch’ podcast, Bovi underscored that children should not be subjected to physical punishment, irrespective of their misbehavior.

“I don’t advocate for beating children. You should let children be. When you hit a kid, are you really trying to correct them or are you frustrated?” he said.The comedian also criticised the practice of senior students punishing junior colleagues in primary and secondary schools.

“No child should be given authority over another child in the name of ‘senior student’. It really has to stop,” he declared.
