Chima, a Nigerian singer, won the ninth season of Nigerian Idol on Sunday’s finals, defeating fellow competitors Lammy and Chioma.
Chima won a grand prize of N30 million, an SUV, a record deal, and a video shoot for his efforts.
Chioma stunned the crowd during their last performance with her outstanding versions of Jodie’s “Kuchi Kuchi” and Jennifer Hudson’s “One Night Only”.
Chima’s heartfelt performances of Dare Art Alade’s “Not the Girl” and Stevie Wonder’s “As” astounded the judges. Meanwhile, Lammy’s moving renditions of 2baba’s (previously 2face) “African Queen” and Alexandra Burke’s “Hallelujah” drew loud ovation from the audience.
Simi, Chike, Progress, and Victory Gbakara performed at the finals, which also included a special thank-you performance by Judge Omawunmi and expelled participants.
