Chude Jideonwo, a well-known media figure, has made a strong statement about the Nigerian film industry and the types of movies produced there.
In a recent podcast, he noted that Yoruba filmmakers are the primary creators of major films in Nigeria.
He challenged his audience to name any successful Hausa or Igbo films on Netflix or other popular streaming services.
He highlighted names like Funke Akindele, Kunle Afolayan, Bolanle Austins Peters, and Femii Adebayo, suggesting that Yoruba film culture has integrated with other cultures and is currently at the forefront.
He also pointed out that only Yoruba films have gained traction on platforms like Amazon Prime and Netflix, becoming significant cultural successes.
