Basketmouth, a well-known comedian, has sparked controversy by quoting Biblical precedents to support polygamy.
On his Instagram story, the comedian compared some Biblical characters who had only one wife to those who married more than one wife.
According to Basketmouth, people who married only one wife in the Bible ultimately lost their way and betrayed God.
On the other hand, all of the Bible characters that married more than one wife received favor from the Lord.
He then urged everyone to do whatever they want with the information he provided.
In his words: “According to the Holy Bible, Ahab – 1 wife Herod – 1 wife Ananias-1 wife Pontius Pilate – 1 wife Jeroboam – 1 wife Nebuchadnezzar. – 1 wife Haaman – 1 wife Zakayo – 1 wife. And they all lost their way and betrayed God.
“Abraham -3 wives Jacob – 4 wives David – 4 wives Solomon – 700 wives and 300 concubines Rehoboam – 18 wives Abijah – 14 wives Elkanah – 2 wives Lemech-2 wives eygiwa And they all found favour in the eyes of the Lord. Whatever you do with this information is none of my business… However u want to interpret it is your cup of tea but I will be comment session.”
Basketmouth’s post sparked outrage among many online users.
