Comedian Chris Rock Turns down Offer to Host 2023 Oscars after scandal

Popular comedian, Chris Rock has noted that he’s not interested in hosting the Oscars this time around.

He revealed this with his audience at a Phoenix stand-up show, disclosing that he was asked to return to the Oscars in 2023 as host after Will Smith slapped him onstage. He declined the offer.

According to the Arizonal Republic, the comedian said it would be like going back to a crime scene or inviting Nicole Brown Simpson “to go back to the restaurant.” He claimed he also turned down a Super Bowl ad in the aftermath.

He reportedly also said that the Will Smith slap did hurt.

“He’s bigger than me. The state of Nevada would not sanction a fight between me and Will Smith,” he reportedly said.
