A Nigerian couple residing in the UK is joyfully celebrating a significant blessing, as their first child has been born with the AA genotype, despite both parents having the AS genotype.
The announcement was made on social media by @Gustine__, who highlighted how the couple, both with AS genotypes, successfully avoided the 50% risk of having an AS child and the 25% risk of an SS child in each pregnancy.
“Congratulations to my people. AS X AS got married, first child in the UK turned out to be AA. A perfect way to end the year!!!” he captioned the post.
The couple’s experience has generated a flurry of reactions online, with many individuals celebrating this news as a symbol of hope and faith. Others emphasized the significance of genetic counseling.
