Content creator Maraji has come to the defense of Annie Idiibia in light of calls for the actress’s removal from the reality show Young, Famous, and Africans.
Annie has recently faced significant criticism from fellow cast members and various commentators. Just a few days ago, she was targeted by Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan, who harshly criticized both Annie and her husband, musician 2Face.
This controversy arose following the premiere of Season 3 of the show, which featured a tense confrontation between veteran Nigerian actress Ini Edo and Annie. The altercation began during a meal when Annie made comments regarding Zari’s husband and their wedding, which Zari found offensive.
In retaliation, Zari disparaged Annie’s husband, labeling him a “baby-making factory,” and questioned Annie’s accomplishments in her acting career.
In response to the situation, Maraji posted a video on her Instagram account on Tuesday, where she defended Annie. She argued that Annie’s actions were not egregious, noting that gossip is a common behavior among individuals.
Maraji emphasized that the primary distinction between Annie and others is that the latter are aware of their friends’ identities. She characterized Annie as someone who values friendships and often confides in those seeking quick information. Additionally, she portrayed the actress as a kind-hearted individual who adopts a tough demeanor to shield herself from emotional pain.
“If you watch me right now and tell me you do not gossip about people or you have never made a funny face about people, then you are a liar.
“The only difference between Annie and us, is that we know our friends.
“Annie loves friendship, she loves friendship so much that she doesn’t even know who friends are, because she bonded so quickly with the new girl over the fact that they are mothers, you can see how joyful she is to speak to the lady.
“She just keeps confiding in people that want quick information.
“Annie is also very sweet, she’s a sweet person who thinks she’s a gangster, she thinks that if she comes off as gra gra, people will respect her, she’s trying to protect herself because she knows she’s a softie, she knows that her heart.”
