The outbreak of the novel coronavirus, which as of May 20 has killed more than 325,000 people globally, has affected sporting events across the world.
As the number of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide has surged past 4.9 million, major sporting events have been cancelled or postponed.
The most significant one that was due to take place in Japan this summer was the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
