A youth corps member proudly talks about his teaching abilities, sharing how he helped students do better and was rewarded with a bag of rice, groundnut oil, and cash from his Place of Primary Assignment for his excellent work.

In a detailed post on X, previously called Twitter, he shared his story, focusing on one student who amazed him by getting a distinction, overcoming fears of failing, all due to his committed tutoring.

“Finished marking their scripts today, and they actually performed so well. There was this particular boy I was worried might fail. I would invite him to the staff room to repeat lessons for him. He got a distinction, and no student failed,” he wrote.

He showed his disappointment about the NYSC allowance, saying he should get more for his hard work: “NYSC doesn’t appreciate me. 33k. Sigh. 🤧”

He said that his PPA showed appreciation for his efforts by presenting him with cash, a large jar of groundnut oil, and a bag of rice as a Christmas present. “My PPA remarked, ‘Thanks for being a wonderful teacher to our students, and Merry Christmas ahead!’ ☺️”

He also shared how his students mimicked him during the school’s end-of-year party, even though he wasn’t present.

“At the Xmas party today, students were asked to mimic their favorite teachers, and I was mimicked. Funny thing is, I wasn’t even there, so colleagues were demonstrating what they did for me. Now the school board knows who I am.”

The post got a lot of reactions from social media users who admired his dedication and shared their opinions in the comments.
