- The member expressed frustration over the low payment on social media X.

A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member has publicly called out the Enugu State government for paying a significantly low monthly allowance of just ₦892 to corps members serving in the state.
Expressing his frustration, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his concerns, questioning the rationale behind such a meager payment.
“How can a state like Enugu be paying ₦892 as NYSC state allowance to corps members… is it for what?” he wrote, highlighting his disappointment over the inadequate financial support provided by the state.
His post quickly gained widespread attention, sparking conversations across social media platforms. Many users engaged in the discussion, sharing their own experiences and grievances regarding the low allowances corps members receive in various states.
Some commenters expressed shock at the amount, while others pointed out that certain states do not even provide any additional stipend beyond the federal government’s ₦33,000 allowance. The issue reignited debates about the financial struggles corps members face and the need for state governments to offer better support.
As reactions continue to pour in, many are calling on the Enugu State government to review its policies and provide a more reasonable allowance to corps members who dedicate a year of service to the state
