Court Adjourns Proceedings in Fresh Suit Brought Against Emefiele by FG

Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was charged by the federal government of Nigeria on Thursday before a high court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to Gistlover, a 20-count accusation of illegal procurement was brought against Emefiele before Justice Hamza Muazu of the FCT high court in Maitama.

However, the first and second defendants’ absence, who are reportedly ill, caused the arraignment for the alleged N6.9 billion procurement scam to be postponed.

However, Emefiele himself was present in court.

The matter was postponed to August 23, 2023, by the presiding judge, Justice Hamza Muazu, in response to a request for delay.
