Abba Kyari, the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, has returned to prison following the denial of bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Alongside two other senior police officers, Abba Kyari was charged with drug-related offenses.
The denial of bail was issued by Justice Emeka Nwite, who stated that the defendants failed to provide sufficient evidence to warrant the court’s discretion in granting bail.
The trial judge emphasized the need for the court to exercise its discretion judiciously, leading to the decision of not granting bail to the defendants.
This ruling comes after Kyari was previously granted a temporary two-week bail of N50 million, with a surety of the same amount, to attend his late mother’s burial.
