A former Governor of Imo State and presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, Rochas Okorocha has been denied bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
This is coming days after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) invaded the Senator’s residence and arrested him.
The anti-graft noted that Okorocha was arrested and detained for jumping bail in a corruption case levelled against him.
Justice Inyang Eden Ekwo in his ruling on Friday declined to compel the commission to release him from their detention.
The lawmaker representing Imo West Senatorial district had filed an ex-parte application in which he predicated his bail request on the ground that he is a presidential aspirant under APC, adding that his political ambition would be jeopardized unless granted bail.
Justice Ekwo while passing his judgement on the bail application said he was not inclined to admit him to bail.
The judge instead ordered the former Governor of Imo State to put the Federal Government on notice to come and defend his detention.
Okorocha has been slated for arraignment on N2.9 billion money laundering charges before the same judge twice but refused to honour the same court.
