Court of Appeal dismiss 3 Plateau PDP Lawmakers from national assembly

Three federal parliamentarians from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were dismissed by the court of appeals, continuing the opposition parties’ cleansing from power. Daily Trust noted that three state house of assembly legislators from Plateau state were dismissed by the Abuja appellate court.

These legislators are Ibrahim Agbalak (Rukuba), Nanbol Rimvyat (Langtang North Central), and Happiness Akawu (Pengana).

On Sunday, November 19, the appellate court dismissed Governor Caleb Mutfwang, a PDP member, on the same day that the verdict was rendered. Young people demonstrate Some people in Jos, the state capital of the Plateau, reacted to this event by calling for a review of the ruling.

The National Judicial Council (NJC) of Nigeria was encouraged by these locals to review the decision and overturn the unfair ruling. Philemon Jangkam, the youth leader of Angwan Rukuba Junction, said:

We started noticing the injustice right from the court of appeal judgments that sacked Isaac Kwallu, Simon Mwadkon and other lawmakers.

“We the youth of this community are not happy and we will not accept this judgment. We will continue to protest until this judgment and the ones that sacked our National Assembly members are reviewed.”

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, informed reporters that the PDP is aware of the developments in Plateau. He emphasised that the party had previously advocated for the disbandment of the Plateau Appeal Panel. The objective is establishing a new panel to dispense justice impartially and without bias.
