Court Orders Soldiers to Leave Bobi Wine’s House.
A Ugandan court, has directed the security operatives to vacate the home of opposition leader, Bobi Wine, who has been under house arrest since the conclusion of the presidential election in the country.
Gistlover, reported earlier, that troops blocked the residence of the musician-turned-politician after he ran against the incumbent President Yoweri Museveni.
On Monday, Wine’s lawyer, George Musisi told Reuters that, “The judge ordered that the state and its agencies should immediately vacate his property and his right to personal liberty should immediately be reinstated.”
Museveni who happens to be one of the longest presidents in Africa was declared the winner of the Presidential election with 59% of votes versus 35% for Wine.
Wine who speaks against corruption in his songs rejected the results, alleging fraud which the government denies.
Musisi said the judge also ruled that if there were any serious allegations against Wine, he should be brought before a court or police.
The Police spokesman, Patrick Onyango, said he had no immediate comment as the ruling had not been received.
