The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal in Umuahia’s ruling, which rejected the election of Labour Party member Amobi Ogah as the representative for the Isikwuato Umunneochi Federal Constituency of Abia State, has been overturned by the Court of Appeal in Lagos.
The Labour Party’s Ogah candidate was declared the winner by the tribunal in September 2023; however, the legislator appealed the decision to the Court of Appeal.
The panel decided in favor of Nkiriuka Onyejiocha, the current Minister of State for Labour and Employment and candidate for the All Progressives Congress, while declaring Ogah’s election invalid.
The appeal court decided on Friday in favor of Ogah, who ran for office on the Labour Party platform.
